ZX10R wiring plus resistor
This is the difficult bit for me.
I'm trying to marry the original car loom to the zx10r loom after it was previously married to a zx9r loom.
Are you still with me.
It was supposedly going to be fairly straightforward as there are only 3 car loom wires that need connecting to the bike loom. On the ZX9 one ignition
wire went from the car loom to the yellow and red wire that connects to the starter relay. It's the same on the zx10. That one was simple.
The other white ignition wire from the car loom connected to the brown on the zx9 that hooks up to the ignition switch. I'm fairly confident
it's the same on the zx10r.
Now on the fitting of the resistor with the zx9 it was just a case of fitting between the white and grey wires on the ignition switch but on the zx10r
there is no grey wire.
The American loom shows a grey wire at the switch but not on the UK loom.
I'm using an American ECU to omit the need of having the lock and key set for the immobiliser. And then using a power commander to control
things.
Should I have purchased an American loom or is there a way round this.
Thanks in advance
Brad

as I remember, the resistor was there to detect/avoid the bike being 'hot wired' so if the ecu isn't expecting to check it, it
should be easy...

Thanks Gremlin.
I have just stumbled onto an old post and Russbost had already answered.
When the grey wire is missing the resistor connects to the blue wire.

I now think that is wrong.
It's a Red/Blue wire and that doesn't go to the immobiliser.

Been speaking to Malc at Yorkshire Engine's.
He's had a quick look and believes it is pin 19 on the smaller ECU connector which is a Green/Black wire which goes to the starter relay. This
should have the resistor on it to a switched live.
I'll keep you updated.
Brad.

We have had a rethink .
It now looks like its the blue wire from the ecu which goes to the immobiliser.
Disconnect from immobiliser attach the resistor then connect to a switched live.
All this corrresponds to an old reply from Russbost.
The blue wire from a UK loom is in the same place as the grey wire on an US loom.
