Dashboard
I am about to ask a stupid question, which i am sure will result in a stupid answer
Anyway, here goes.........
I am at the beginning of making my dash, so far i have a water temp gauge, oil pressure gauge and a voltage gauge. Obviously i need a speedo and rev
counter. The lights and indicators are controlled by the existing column stalks.
What other switches and gauges should i buy/get? and has anyone got a decent basic layout as a starting point?

In addition to the obvious, a cooling fan over ride switch.
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

What make gauges has everyone bought?
Think i like the look of Racetech ones, cheapish too.

Not going soft on me are you Ben? I've got a 99.9% complete digital dashboard with your name on it here - still have credibility gap re 1.4ohm
oil pressure transducer.
What do you want to do? I'd suggest replacing the transducer, it's either broke or it's an "idiot" guage that's
actually a switch - drop me a line

Ah.. I have the same Dilemma, Anyone tell me whats reasonably good looking and reasonably priced gauges, speedo & Rev Counter.
Also any to avoid, ie from a reliability point of view.

Just something to think about (as I had totaly forgotten about it until recently). If you plant to use the column switches so as not to clutter the
dash with switches (as I thought), remember the column has no way to switch the fog lights.
BTW: My Guages are Telemetrix (£300 with sender, Speed, Recs, Fuel & Temp)

this is my finished dash, (finished last night)
gauges are smiths telemetrix, from europa with all senders and speedo pick up kit for £325. (where did you get yours pioneer?)

Europa too, but I get a show discount because they didnt have them all in stock at the show and had to backorder them for me.
Nice looking dash mate. Is the ingition switch in the SVA exempt area?

they're good at that at europa. i ordered a rear view mirror, £10 ish and they sent me an spa side mirror (£30ish), so i chopped it in against my
fuel cap, as the same day, i'd ordered the exact same mirrors from demon thieves got my rv mirror from svc after that.
my starter is on the original key. those switches are rear fog and fan override, just so you know.
the switches actually sit behind the wheel, partly for sva purposes but also because they're really easy to get to from the belted up seated
position. seemed logical really, until of course someone tells me that you can't put stuff behind the wheel. (please don't, i
can't stand any more sva bo***x. )

Thats a nice looking dash. What are all the warning lights for?
I assume the greens are indicators and the blue is main beam, what about the others?

the two red ones are brake level/hand brake and the other is oil pressure. the yellow is rear fog

Cheap and cheerful version, it only cost about £25 all in. Including 19mm marine ply, hippy roll, vinyl ans fastenings

Thanks chaps (and any chapesses) thats great, its given me lots to think about. Gauges are a major expense, and I got a 2.1 tuned Pinto with fast
road/race cam, twin 40 delorttos, and 4 branch exhaust for less than £325!!. However, its the wheels, seats, gauges and Dash that dominate the visual
aspect of the vehicle.

it's home made is that!
it's about the fifth blank we've made (me and pa) and is a single piece of 6mm mdf with two more layers laminated to the bottom to give an
sva friendly radius rounded over with a router. the vinyl used is not from a kit car show, tried that last go and was not flexible enough but is from
a local upholsterers, flexible enough to get round all but the top of the column cut out (neede nicking). aerosol contact adhesive and super glue
secure it and give the above effect.
giva it a go, you'll be surprised what you can achieve!
