R1 Loom - what's this component?
I'm still working on my loom and figured that I should ask before I make costly assumptions... What's the component highlighted in the
second photo below? The first photo is provided to show where on the loom it is.

Now, to me it just looks like an accumulation or junction box of earths. Can anyone confirm?

Oh, thanks to Rob Collingridge for the pic.

Yeah Tim its just a bulk connector of wires, there's a few on the R1 loom.
iirc, there's a black one, a black/blue one and a blue one (one of those might not be correct, but it's been a few years since i last saw
an R1 loom)
Blue wires go to sensors (v+)
Black/blue go to sensors (v-)

Hi
Could be the cyclelock terminal ?
We found the best way was to connect everything to engine
mostly all different plugs so you can't go far wrong , then unwrap the loom
which makes identification a lot easier then discard all you want or need to
keep the exup motor, we made the mistake of buying one of those magic boxes
Which are supposed to fool the ECU that the motor is still there, that was a disaster
Then fitted the exup motor in the engine bay, (take the pulley off the cut the shaft flush
Or not whatever you desire, it weighs next to nothing & cured all the faults.
Ours is a 2000 engine with carbs, we found using the haynes wiring diagram far easier to
follow than the Yamaha one.
If you want a copy of the 2000 diagram, send me utu with your email.
Good luck
René

I did a 5JJ loom in 2007 and managed to reduce it down to about 5 wires. The 4C8 that I'm working with now is a very different kettle of fish -
something like 53 wires coming from the ECU. My biggest concern was that it was a cyclelock but I was 90% sure it wan't before Chris
chipped-in.

From memory of working on a 5VY loom which i think that is? doh maybe not then! looks very similar, it's as Chris says a junction box of wires
coming from different directions
