electronic led flasher relay
Im just about finishing up my wiring and am having a few issues with my indicators. Im using a 3 pin electronic flasher relay with led lights all
round. I think that the relay is knackered. when the relay is working correctly i am assuming that the output from pin 49a should be a pulsed 12v? I
am just getting 12v but then when all lights are connected just they don't light up at all.
The other pin on relay goes to the warning lamp so i tried the indicators using that output and this time every thing came on when selected (L, R and
haz) but
just came on solid ie no flash? Am i right in thinking this proves my wiring is ok but flasher is duff ?
Cheers
Steve

i would say you need a pair of diodes on the circuit. what hazard switch are you using?

Its a savage switch (hazard) with a rocker switch for indicators. Its wired with diodes, with a 12v feed every thing works as it should. I'm
just not getting any pulsating voltage to make it flash. Think its got to be a duff relay.

Have you tried substituting one or two LEDs for a conventional bulb as a trial? Sometimes LED setups can behave very strangely. Are you sure your
diodes are wired correctly (polarity wise)?
Cheers,
Raz
When thinking outside the box doesn't work any more, it's time to build a new box

Diodes are defo right way round first thing I checked. I will have a play with the conventional bulb in the morning.
I should still be seeing a pulsing voltage from the relay if working correctly though shouldn't I? It was loaded up with all the indicators, bar
the side repeaters.

do you have a diagram of how you wired it?
your diodes should be on the left and right indicator wires where they connect to the hazard switch

first set of contacts
pin 1 feed to flasher
pin 2 permanent feed
pin 3 ignition feed
second set of contacts
pin 1 return from flasher.
pin2 left and right ndicator feed with diode on each letting voltage away from switch and not back
pin 3 not used
the only wire i cant remember was where i fed the indicator switch common from!

Ive bench tested the relay today and its definitly Fubarrred. When the new one arrives wiil take it from there. I think my wiring method works in the
fact that every thing comes on when selected but just not flashing.
I will make a note of your connections tho incase it still doesnt work

It was a dodgy relay new one fitted and all works perfectly
For info the above diagram works using savage hazard switch and a toggle ind switch.

better that way than pulling the loom apart

Did pull apart a lot of it as I was concerned it was my wiring rather than a brand new relay that was duff
