battery - alternator - starter
before i go filtering through wiring diagrams, misunderstanding and bodging my first job could anyone describe this bit of wiring? I'm fairly
certain its not a tricky one but may require some knowledge of the redtop??
battery has a +ve and -ve terminal :p

-ve goes to chassis usually. so the +ve will go the main terminal on starter, and same on alternator.
youll also need an earth strap to go from chassis/battery to engine block for everything to work.

Delco-Remy Alternator
The smaller connection is most likely the ignition (charge) warning lamp, but could also be a remote sense line. Is there any marking next to it?

that alternator is a biggun!!! you gonna fit a huuge serao system?
yep - the above look correct - the alternator body is the earth - clean up the mounting lugs and all will be fine - no need for ay extra wire.
it is hard to tel from photo but the two scew terminals look like thy are connected together by a metal plate - can you cehck that they are insulated
from each other, if not, then question arises as to where the charge lamp is fitted.

reading the premier wiring guide and this website am I right in thinking that
rather than fitting two separate wires from the battery to the starter and the battery to the alternator I can connect the battery +ve to the starter
then the same starter terminal to the alternator?
the plate theyre on is brown plastic so must be insulating them from each other.
haha, I did want a snazzy denso one but couldnt afford it
