A couple of hours..

.. later and the alternator is back in.

Alternator bottom bracket loctited in.

Welded a web to the top braket to rigidify it now it hardly moves when pushed quite hard - my theory being the vibes from the alternator being ab le to move a bit loosened the lower bottom bracket bolts.

I do hope you're not quite finished there. Those wires look very vulnerable to vibration-induced failure.
