Xflow Electronic Ign - Connectors?
Dick Axtell - 7/10/08 at 01:49 PM

Am in process of setting up my 1600 xflow with electronic ignition.

I have a Bosch, contactless xflow dizzie, which has, surprisingly enough, a Bosch connector. This is a 3-pin blade type connector. See below for pic.

Now I've found a potential source for replacement Ford ign modules. There is one supposedly for my dizzie (Fiesta XR2 Mk 1). However, it has a Bosch 4-pin connector. See pic below.

So how do you couple the dizzie to this ign module? Or am I missing something?

Thanks, Mr.Whippy. That's a very comprehensive answer.

But it still doesn't solve the main point about connecting a 3-pin, blade socket to a similar 4-pin plug.

Guess I'll have to contact Bosch, for some new terminals.

Nah, Mr. Whippy.

Your bottom diag shows the solution, I've now realised.

There's a connecting link between dizzie and module, which provides 3-pin socket (#6) at one end (for dizzie), and 4-pin connector (#4) at the module end.

Alles klar - many thanks for the diags.
