Rescued attachment AUTO GAUGE.JPG
absolute pure guess work,
red power
black earth
Green signal
yellow light for at night
i'm guessing hte black and white cable is something else as it doesn't seem to be attached.
easy test is to do the red and black bit then put 12v down the yellow and see if it lights up, if not i'm wrong. if it smokes i'm really
wrong :p
I think the bk/wht are only for illumination purposes , its the others i am bothered about as we all know smoking kills !!!!
OOPS bk/wht shift light +/-

Hi every gauge i have had to wire up from this company has been different.
But usually its: RED = power in - black = earth - yellow = shift light out - green = rpm signal in - seperate black/white = + and - for illumination.
But be warned they have a nasty habit of never doing two the same.
Dose yours have a choice of thee wires to cut to get the right configuration for wasted spark 4cyl 6cyl and 8cyl. As that is where there instructions
are always wrong.
Additional info this company has now brought STACK instruments. So when all the cheap gauges with STACK logos start to appear AVOID them like the
plague. and lets just hope that the existing STACK instruments quality dose not fall.
HTH cheers Matt

Hi Matt , Thanks for that info , as all the colours match this one , when i applied power to the bk/wht seperate pair the shift light came on so i
assume that the yellow wire may connect to one of these wires , if that is the case is the yellow out at + or - polarity .
Plus it has a switch for 4cyl6cyl and 8cyl so no loops to contend with fortunately .
Cheers

Hi the ones i have wired up had a - negative feed out to the shift light. Sounds like your gauge is different to the ones i have had to deal with
which where the Ford motorsport ones from Burton's but made by autometer. And there is one fitted to the locost i am supposed to be racing which
has the same gauge but not with the Ford motorsport livery on it but wiring was totally different and was not as per the instructions supplied with it
from Autometer.
They do have a web site that supposedly give you all the info you require when stuck. I will see if i can find it.
Edit found it. LINK
Edit again Found this on there site but dose not seem to tie up with your wiring.
What Are These Colored Wires On My Tach For?
• Red = key on power supply
• Black = common chassis ground
• White = dash lighting power
• Yellow = used only on Internal Coil Magneto tachometers as the signal wire
• Green = tachometer signal for standard or electronic ignitions
• Twin Black = (looks like a lamp cord) is used on External Coil Magneto tachometers that use an inductive pick up (#5210)
• Gray = for tachometers that use a Hi/Lo shift light. When grounded, Lo shift light point is active. When ungrounded, Hi shift light point is active.
• Blue = used on Playback tachometers to start recording (see playback tachometer instructions)
