How have you mounted your alternators?

MK indy Pinto.

Mk suggest mounting the alternator off the water pump housing. i cannot get enough tension on the belt.

what type of alternators are you using? i have a standard ford one prehaps a bit big.

i've seen some nice mountings for a vauhall SBH i think but they are pricey and i've spant enough on this car i think (SWMBO has said so).

mates alternator is the original one, but we made the adjuster bracket to suit and ran the engine whikst we sanded the fins down .
Works a treat.

Mine's a standard one, just bought a shorter belt

for some reason I couldn't fit my standard alternator as it clashed with the angled chassis rail.
fitted a Nippon Denso alternator off a Micra with a home made bracket from some angle iron. there are a few photos in my archive though not that clear.

Mine was pretty much exactly the same as darrens, i used a bedford rascal/suzuki SJ alternator.

I have had a look in the cave but just cant find the old alt bracket anywhere,i'm off shift from thurs so i'll have a dig around. Rescued attachment 2Dscn0150.jpg

The same solution for me!!!

cheers,

many many thanks.

i think the MK solution has a problem... it means that the rear of the alternator is not located properly and allows the alternator to wobble. i've tried to restrain the rear but your solutions are better.

i put on a shorter belt which allows more tension but the alternator is not straight (parallel to the block)

Im pretty sure MK owners have used the Mac#1 bracket set to good effect before.
