Ford tacho wiring

I have done a search but nothing gives me a definate answer........
I have a set of clocks from a 3ltr Capri as I needed a speedo to use with the type 9 box and I wanted a 6cyl tacho to talk to the Alfa V6. That was the easy bit!
There are three terminals on the back of the tacho. I have deduced from the stuff I found in the search that the one that stands away from the others is the earth(??). The other two should be the +ve and the pulse from the coil.
Can anyone tell me the real answer??? I don't like the smell of burning wires and I don't want to find another set of clocks because I have fried these!!
Cheers, Owelly.

Speedy Cables may be able to help with the correct information.
