Pics, diagrams anything please!
I have a Premier loom which i need to attach to pinto with electronic ingnition dizzy to run with Bogg Bros R1 carbs.
Like most of the build im learning as i go so no electrical knowledge.

I,ve read the instructions but feel the need for a little more before feeling confident to proceed.
Im hoping those with a similar set up will be able contribute. Photos especially appreciated

Job 1 - as said is understand the instructions. A fair few wires wont be needed so these can be identified and wrapped up out of the way or discarded.

Job 2 is split the loom into smaller parts. Eg rear loom first - get it routed and ends of wires roughly where the lights etc will be (worth having an electric fuel pump feed down there as well). Tidy it up, wrap it in conduit etc and clip to chassis. Then there is a bulk of wires out of the way.

Job 3 - maybe run in the front loom. Decide where the electrical bits will be and run wires to them. Conduit - clip and then another load iof wires ae out of the way.

Job 4 is probs the under dash loom. Site the fuse box and the rest should be OK (ie feeds to clocks and switch gear etc).

Half of the battle is deciding where all the components will be and then you can run wires to that area. Making a start is probs the hardest bit.

Just do a little at a time and you will get there. Label wires up if you are in danger of forgetting next time you get access to teh car to do some more.

After i had the looms roughly sited i spent a cuple of days soild wiring up. I managed to junk all of the Sierra switch gear and graft in a DD2 pro so it cant be that hard

i used convoluted tube for conduit. If you forget a wire it can be tricky fitting another later. You can also used split conduit or self amalgamating tape (looks like insulating tape but not sticky).

For the chassis clips dont use self adhesive cable tie bases - SVA dont like them. Pop a screw in the middle to hold secure or use P-clips.

Also pay attention to hot bits or rotating bits and either route wiring away from them or protect it (i havent got any wires running under the exhaust for example).


Do a search for Pinto electronic dizzy wiring - there are some good posts on here. It is one if the easiest jobs. Or why not just go for megajolt fromthe outset (its easier than you think and no harder to wire up when starting from scratch).



Where abouts are you? Someone local may be able to give you some inspiration.

I should have been more specific maybe. Its the what goes between the end of the loom and the dizzy. Do i use the ecu or not. Do i need seperate amplifier etc?

Can you tell me if i use the ecu or not?

I didnt use the ECU with my pinto set up with weber carb if that helps

Also the wires you need to connect the coil amp dizzy are part of the original engine loom, you just need to connect the ign live to the amp/coil from the premier wiring loom, make sure you have nice clean earths and all should be ok.
