What rear lights have people used.
rusty - 21/6/07 at 07:09 PM

As said which lights have people used and what sort of prices have been paid. Looking to upgard current 1970's lights

Was thinking of mounting new lights in ally plate to cover old holes does this sound like a good idea.

Any pics of lights would be cool

Thanks

bigrich - 21/6/07 at 07:13 PM

Flak, Is it finished yet?

Howlor - 21/6/07 at 07:38 PM

The one's that Bigrich had on. I used LED bulbs in them.

Try some caravan and trailer places as I saw the same ones at 4.50 each!

Humbug - 21/6/07 at 07:48 PM

Hamburger lights from Carbuilder Solutions, foglight from SVC, reflectors from somewhere (motor factors, I think) Rescued attachment rear.jpg

No pic, but landy ones like flak as I think they really suit 7's.

Got mine for about £2.25 each from somewhere on the net.

Deposit now taken on KC so not mine for much longer but...

Hella LED rears on mine (Personally didn't think they were bright enough)

40inches - 21/6/07 at 10:49 PM

I have these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kit-car-Stop-Tail-Lamp-light-westfield-locost-caterham_W0QQitemZ290128190744QQihZ019QQcategoryZ100921QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
made by Wipac, does clear, fog and indicator also.

DaveFJ - 22/6/07 at 07:35 AM

I've bought - (not yet fitted) - all LED lights from SVC. (except FOG coz thats was REALLY expensive). they did cost a small fortune though. I bought all the lights at once cost well over £500

Hellfire - 22/6/07 at 12:15 PM

SVC's finest. Only picture I could find of the back end...........

Carbon-Bits.com, these characters are the best I've seen yet at 'baffling with bullsh1t!!!

[We manufacture all our products from a choice of resins, impregnating the laminate “in house”. ]

Commonly called 'wet layup'. Can be seen in any boatyard, and most back yards around here!

[For our standard laminate we use Aerospace epoxy resins to impregnate 2 layers of 2x2 twill Carbon of 204 gms /m2. Sandwiched between these 2 layers is a thin layer of glass-fibre with randomly orientated fibres of 220gms/m2.]

A waste of good carbon, with a layer of good old fibreglass csm in the middle. Don't they know how to use proper core materials? Or do they think everyone is stupid enough to believe their internet rubbish.

Buy it if you must, though.

iank - 22/6/07 at 04:25 PM

Hey, their stuff offers "reduced corrosion resistance"

Lennart - 23/6/07 at 07:42 PM

I've used Hella LED's as well.

Most interested to hear McLannahan doesn't think the Hella tail lights are not bright enough, as we have just had a customer fail SVA as they were "too bright" in the opinion of the tester.
I'm just waiting for confirmation of the test centre and testers name before we set STATUS on to them.
An "E" marked light can't be failed as long as it’s fitted correctly (and the wiring is not causing it to be too dull - poor earth/connections etc).

I have a set of Fiat Coupe rear lights which I might use if I can figure out how - they don't have screw covers so will need to be mounted in a way that the inside is protected - maybe need some sort of tube mounting which I quite fancy the idea of.
