Hi friends,
Does anyone have a project or any foto about making alternator brackets on zetec engine? Or does anybody knows where I can buy alternators bracket
?
Original mondeo bracket is too large to fit on my Tiger Avon.
Thankyou
Is it a silver top mate? All i did for mine was get a bit of plate and weld some legs on in the appropriate place. Ill try and get some piccies
later.

I bought mine from Tiger - it was pretty crap and I wished I done it myself.

Very easy.
Easy alternator to use is the sierra Dohc as it has a good pulley. The belt you would want is Halfords part Hb925g and comes from many diesel engines
inclueding the ford Galaxy. I have made a couple of set ups like this. Top brackets depend on your induction but Renault 5 arm works well.
Renault 5 alternator on a more complicated bracket.
Try and keep it close to the engine or you will end up with problems with clearance with the steering link
And third is the Dunnell engines set up
standard Mk 2 mondeo setup...including standard tensioner..will fit a silvertop without any alteration.
(note: power steering pump long since removed)

I do not understand why big_wasa have a water pump pulley grooved. I have " slik" pulley. Water pump should run counterclockwise, instead
big_wasa water pump run clockwise.
Did I miss something?

The 2.0L zetec water pump runs off the back of the belt, hence the smooth pulley. The 1.8L Zetec water pump runs off the grooved side of the belt hence the grooved pulley. However, it is common for people to fit the 1.8L water pump to the 2.0L engine as it allows you to use a simple triangulated arrangment with the drive: belt crank > water pump > alternator, and everything still runs the correct direction.
Hi Rudy,
Thats easy to explain. If you have 1.8 silver top with a smooth water pump pully then your engine has come from a mondeo. The pump on these runs
backwards compared to the escort/fiesta/orion and is driven by the back of the belt. So in a 7 the fix is to fit the escort waterpump and pulley.
