Headlight size?
David Jenkins - 22/4/03 at 10:11 AM

What size headlights have people used? 5.75" or 7"?

Anyone got photos so I can make my mind up? (that'll be the day!)

cheers,

David

David

Going to use 5.75", look much neater than 7"

andyd - 22/4/03 at 03:50 PM

David,

Also using 5.75".
Not got any fotos to hand but if no one has come up with anything within a day or two I'll get off my ar$e and take some for you

Incidently, when they were delivered they struck me as being huge! Can't imagine what 7" ones are like apart from very huge.

I've fitted 5", take a look on my photo section to see them on the car. Bigger ones seem to give the car that "scared frog" look.

Make your own mind up, I believe that Rob Lane's site shows his car with both 7" and then 5" (I think).

Good call, Lee...

I think you lot are right - 5 3/4" looks best. Roll on Stoneleigh!

cheers,

David

Hi David,

I've used both. Started with 7 inch version and then swapped to 5 inch.

5 inch look much neater and as a bonus do not stress the mouting as heavily as 7 inch. Light output is little different.

Where are the best places to get 5.75" lights (I prefer chromes) apart from the shows, remember I am only 7 miles from Lands End so even Exeter is a 220 mile round trip!, and I cannot wait until Exeter to finish off the car!

Just found this...

Blimey they are waht i'm selling and less than what i paid at show last year.

You could have had mine for £40 the pair.

Mark, have you got the headlights yet? What's the quality like?

I was wondering whether it would be worth a few of us contacting these people (if the quality is right) and organising a group purchase - we might get a bit more off the price if we buy 10 pair for instance.

What do you think? is there enough interest??

Mark Allanson - 30/4/03 at 07:25 PM

They arrived today (wednesday) and were ordered saturday night, so less than 3 working days, pretty good!

The quality is very good for the price, they are mild steel but with good chrome, and zinc plated inside (would benefit from a good wax spray). They come with all the bulbs, but no loom for the sidelamp (big deal). The sealing ring pinch bolt is BZP steel and will rust so I will replace with stainless.

I am pleased with them, especially for £28 each inc vat and only £1.75 P&P.
