I've used a mini switch,and made a bracket up to mount it with a tab welded onto the pedal to operate the switch.
I'm about to replace my hydraulic brake light switch with one operated from the pedal but can't think of an easy way to operate it given the
pedals are floor mounted.
The switch is the type that attaches to the pedal with a spring which then pulls the switch to make the circuit. Maybe I just have the wrong switch
but if anyone has any great ideas for floor mounted pedal switches I'd be grateful!
I've had a quick search and can't find a definitive answer.

I had considered using a long arm microswitch behind the pedal for this, should allow it to trigger, and still flex when pedal is pressed further.

I bought a hall effect sensor from China (Ł1.80) that works when the pedal is within 4mm. I had to install it with a spring on its mounting, so If I
lost pedal pressure and the pedal travelled further it wouldn't jam the pedal up.
Only downside, was I had to fit a relay to handle the current of the brake light bulbs.

No doesn't interfere at all,due to the angle of the pedal the switch is a good few inches away from feet.
Only thing I would do is make sure any debris/small stones etc can't get underneath it,I've had it happen a couple of times causing brake lights to stick on.
Well, My contraption did not work,
I did not considered pedal position once the master cylinders and pushrods were installed. Now they are installed the actuating cam doesnŽt even come
close to the switch.
So Angry grinder will be called upon to remove bodge...
I am moving to microswitch actuated at pedal face; if microswitch doesnŽt last long, IŽll use a relay.
I hope I donŽt need it as all my brake lights are LED units.
Will keep ypu posted.
I used a hydraulic switch when I built my MK Indy a few years back. It did work, but if building again I'd use an electric switch, probably in the same way shown above.
