Q: Alternator Wiring?
Dick Axtell - 19/11/15 at 04:13 PM

Hi LCB-ers, I have just bought one of these :-

NippDen_Alt
NippDen_Alt

The question now is - how do I wire it into my existing PWS loom? Has anyone fitted one of these? For what problems should I keep an eye open? As ever, any helpful comments will be much appreciated.

What type of connector is it,

Have a look at this

It shows you at the right hand side.

IG = ignition feed, to excite the Alt
L = Light on dashboard
P = Always live to "sense" voltage

Big wire to starter/battery goes on the big terminal

Where do you get the plugs for these?!

Thanks to all for your replies. This alternator hasn't arrived yet, so I'm not 100% sure about the rear connector shape. Now I have some useful ideas on what has to go where, so thanks again.

The LCB knowledge base comes up trumps again!

That's the plug, you'll get a second hand one cheaper than that but at least you know what to look for

Get to the scrappy with your wire cutters and find a Suzuki Vitara

If it's the same as mine, the following is not quite correct:

IG = ignition feed, to excite the Alt
L = Light on dashboard
P = Always live to "sense" voltage

P = 'pulse'. It is to drive the tacho on the small diggers that they are normally fitted too. I left it unconnected.

DJT - that's a great piece of info. Many thanks for the tip-off.
