2 way switch wiring help
locoboy - 8/10/14 at 01:11 PM

Not quite on topic but you guys will know for sure :-)

I have a van I am converting as a camper and I want to wire up my internal lights to my leisure battery - not factory internal lights, additional ones

I want to be able to switch the interior lights on from one of 2 switches, one will be located at the side door and one at the tailgate.

I'm struggling to figure our what I need and how to wire them up

I have got this far

can you not just copy the same rules for house light wiring eg:

To copy a domestic style you would need a 2 way switch, which i've never seen for automotive/12v use.

As Chris says. use 2x on-on toggle switches.

HAHA ive never even realised the principle behind a domestic 2way till I just sat down and drew it using simple on-on's. Ignore my earlier rubbish!

Feel free to share your principle Loggyboy!

He wants to be able to switch it on and off from each switch though.

You can with that, it's correct.

It gets harder when you want three switches or more, you then need a reversal.

Apologies - you are right!
