Need a clever auto electrician *electric seat wiring*
corrado vr6 - 27/7/14 at 08:21 PM

Hi there, I bought some seats from a Porsche 996, I'm fitting them to a kit car that I'm building so wiring from scratch.

Passenger seat is easy the brown and red terminal in the pic below operate the electric movement when I apply pos and neg to these wires the seats move using the switches on the seats

The drivers seat seems a lot more complicated! I was provided with a connection box which using google i have managed to work out the order of the connections, however I have no means of powering it due to I'm guessing the loom would normally have a main connection to this connection box.

Behind the passenger switches on the seat

Behind the drivers switches on the seat

As you can see the brown and red wire are missing on the drivers switch and obviously all the wires are of a smaller gauge on the drivers seat, I'm trying to find a way of wiring the drivers seat so that it operates however it's more complicated than the passenger seat, I have found that the bigger gauge black and white wires in the connection box if I apply pos and neg to them then the motors operate but not by using the switch, they just operate.

I'm going to post this on some Porsche forums too, but thought it was worth posting on here just incase someone has an idea

Any help much appreciated
Greg

What you have there is a memory seat.

I believe this is what you need to get it working.

Would you believe I have just found this too, thanks for confirming what I've found is correct, hopefully this works

Not meaning to rain on your parade, but isn't something like this just overly heavy, and complicated for use in a kitcar? Surely something lightweight, and simple would serve you better?
