Hi,

Is there any issues with running a car battery instead of a bike battery?

I understand they will prob be heavier etc but will it cause any issues with the charging etc.

Cheers guys

Oli

A car battery in BEC will be fine.

Make sure it's a small one !

Bike generator/alternators are not as strong as car ones so you can have issues with burning out the field coils/regulator packs.

Some are weaker than others, 893/918 blade engines for instance.

Any reason why you would want one? are you running electric reverse?

Otherwise I can't see why you would need a bigger/heavier/expensive car battery?

I have a Varta B34 battery fitted, smallish, under £50 and 330cca.

Hi
Our R1 engine has a magneto so not a problem, car or bike.
But as previously stated why would you want one ?
Are you going to fit an electric reverse ?
Whatever you decide good luck.

Just curious firstly!

But I don't get to drive car often and the battery from the bike doesn't seem to last long and hold its charge!

It is a new battery

Get a trickle charger or an optimiser.

even just one of them little solar panels stuck on the winda will do it for ya..

Trickle charger I would like but no power source near car!

The solar panel is not a bad idea!
