Dear All

I have 4 ceiling lights at home which have died. I've tried moving the bulbs around and this isolates the problems to the electronic ballasts.

I can't find anyone stocking this in the uk, so I don't mind buying an equivalent ballast and fitting it to the lamp itself. What I don't know is how to go about selecting an equivalent (say from Farnell or RS Components).

Can anyone help or suggest a replacement? The ballast powers two fluorescent tubes, each tube looks like a pair but they are joined in the middle (one tube in reality). The connector that the tube goes into says "max 30W".

This is a bit of a disaster for us - the lights were about £100 each and I don't want to replace them. They're out of warranty.

Its just an electronic ballast. Dont buy one from RS unless you want to be ripped off. Go to WF Electrical, CEF or any mainstream electrical wholesaler trade counter, and ask for an electronic ballast. If the lights are dimmable, make sure you ask for a dimmable electronic ballast. Even better, would be to ask an electrician friend to get you one, as they will secure a discount over trade counters.

Wiring them is easy, as long as you can follow the diagram on the front.

BLT Direct are almost certain to have something suitable, the item in the link look very similar to your dead unit.
