How has everyone with an electric reverse wired it up? I have just put in the main cable direct from the battery but there is no fuse inline due to it having to be massive and could blow if you touched a kerb etc. Does anyone use fuses at all for this circuit? The other problem is how do you make it so the starter only works when in neutral? I've tried tapping into the neutral light on my Hayabusa but no joy.
you will need a fuse inline to stop any chance of ruining the battery if you have a starter motor fault. although i guess you can place the fuse under
the dash.
i read about someone using the neutral light switch to activate the live for the starter and using a ignition starter switch to activate the starter
so it reverses.

I fitted a 150amp mega fuse, which was OK during testing, until I left the handbrake on, Doh! and it blew after about 30 seconds.

To use the neutral light I would tap from it to a relay which switches the main feed to the reverse motor that way you should be safe.
Use the neutral switch. These usually switch to ground to operate a relay which powres the reverse moter solenoid may need a couple of diodes to prevent problems
Thanks for the replys i'll get a 250 amp fuse and holder on order then. I've tried to wire in a relay for the neutral light but i can't get it to throw the relay. I'll have another go tomorrow, has anyone done it on a hayabusa?

All sorted now. I used the neutral light wiring to switch a relay, now it won't crank the engine or reverse unless it's in neutral. Next question is. Is it acceptable at the IVA to have the reverse light only coming on when you are reversing?
Err! yes! If it comes on when you are NOT reversing, that would be a fail.
I think he means it only comes on when the switch is pressed and the car is actually moving backwards; Unlike a traditional reverse light that comes
on when you select reverse but the car is still stationary (clutch in).
I think the answer is yes, but I'd wait for comment from someone who's gone through IVA that way.

can the reverse light be wired into a swich that you select for reverse?

I was going to do the same thing but didn't really want to have to switch it off again after. I guess the activation switch and warning light is the best idea.
