I use 16mm extra flexible cable for the main neg and positive cables.

Otherwise known as Tri-Rated.

Any electrical wholesaler will sell it. Get it from them, it will be cheaper than Halfrauds or T'internet.

"Battery negative to fuse" ?

Normally battery negative should go straight chassis & engine earth points can be via a master switch if required.

If a main "Mega Fuse" (usually 100 to 200 amps) is used it is normally placed in the main +ve battery feed to the main engine compartment fuse box.

Main starter solenoid cable is normally wired straight to battery +ve terminal without any fuse.

On modern tintops usual practice is to wire the main alternator output to engine fuse box side of the main Megafuse.

With regards to the why do i fuse it!!
You dont need to and most people dont, its a worst case protector. If something goes wrong, the fuse protects you from shorting the battery and causing a fire.

Its an OEM method!

Just found this thread looking for battery cable stuff, and I'm confused.

Seems to me that most 16mm2 cable is rated to 110A.

Why do you have a 150A fuse in some 110A cable? Surely you'd be better off with a fuse rated lower than the cable?
