Savage switch wiring help
FFTS - 21/12/09 at 11:24 PM

Got some savage switches but some without wiring instructions. Also saw this video on youtube and love how this guy has wired his to have 2 levels of illumination > Illuminated and ON (brighter) so it shows clearly which switches are on. He mentioned a diode and resistor wired in to each switch.

Anyone know what to ask for at maplins and where to wire them in.

No need for a diode. The switches are double throw (i.e two switches in one) one throw one side and one throw the other. All you need to do is put a resistor on one of the throws so that when the switch is off current flows through the resistor from the side light circuit to the LED but when the switch is on current flows directly from switched positive to the LED. Ill post a diagram shortly.

As you can see one pole of the switch connects to positive if you always want them bright lit when on (day or night) and the other pole connect through a resistor to side light switched positive so that they come on dim when the side lights are on.

Ahh, I just spotted my mistake, the on and off labels are reversed on the diagram. Should be off above and on below.
