Fuel Pressure Regulator

I am fitting GSXR throttle bodies to my Pinto and have been looking at extending the fuel rail. i can see fairly easy ways to extend it but to make it 'flow through' would require drilling the ends and fitting connectors which would no doubt leak.... (ends are plastic)

I was wondering if there is any reason I couldnt mount the regulator before the fuel rail on a T piece ?? a bit like this....

Any opinions?

That would work ok, the only draw back is that you would not have a continual flow of fuel through the rail at low revs to keep it cool but doubt that it would cause any problems. Some modern cars just modulate the pump in the tank to control pressure, and i have heard of people putting the reg in the boot with the tank to eliminate the need for a return pipe.
