I guess it's the fuel pressure regulator, but I'm not sure, mine didn't have it.

I agree.
I wouldnt bother with the pipe that links the carbs to the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
Instead, link it to your ECU/MegaSquirt/Emerald or what ever you are using.

when i ran my 2litre 16v vauxhall lump on suzi TB's , i used the std suzy injectors and pump , and did not use a pressure regulator ... i just
mapped it to cope.

Is there not one bolted to the fuel rail?
If not, either go and buy a one from an appropriate car or buy an aftermarket one.
Q: Does the fuel rail have a return?

No, no regulator on the fuel rail and no return on the fuel rail.

Not a good idea unless the suzuki pump was designed to be used like this.
If you are relying on the safety pressure relief valve built into the pump itself. This will not necessarily give you a stable fuel pressure at all
injector durations, and as you have no return fuel line you risk vapour locks in the fuel rail.

its exactly how the suzuki was done , the fuel rail did not have a return , the pump was designed for it.
i ran a small swirl pot up front with the suzi pump mounted in it , this tank was then fed by the old weber pump at the back.

Yep - sounds like quite a neat solution, Matt.
alternative would be to tap the end of the rail and fit a return. You can then use a standard car pump / regulator.

Dave Walker of Emerald is not too keen on it! On top of the other disadvantages I stated above, it may also be difficult to bleed any air out of the
fuel rail, which is done automaticly when you have a return.
