Push on pipe fittings
ecosse - 13/1/08 at 02:31 PM

I need to get some tight bends on my fuel pipes and wondered if anyone has used pushfit pipe fittings on copper fuel pipe?
Are they sva okay, or would I be better with compression fittings?
Or are any kind of pipe fittings on fuel pipe frowned on?

Thanks

Personally, I'd use solder-on fittings to be absolutely sure of a good seal. However, if the pipe has already been used for petrol then a blowlamp is a no-no!

I think that perhaps the fuel will eat the rubber o rings over a period of time

I know you are not allowed to use them on oil fired boiler feed pipes.

I stand to be corrected though.

i would agree that the rubber isnt certified petrol proof. This alone would make the SVA man fail it due to doubts about suitability. Just soldier it, its very easy!

I'd solder it - barely more effort than compression fittings IMO and looks a lot more professional.
