wilwood on cortina uprights

Not sure if it's a problem or not

it's just the caliper doesn't sit evenly over the disc.

is it anything to worry about? or will it just mean the left side pots will be out a little futher to take up the slack!

I'd use spacers to correctly position the caliper rather than leave it...

after a bit of use wont they even out themselves?
not sure as ive never done it before but they do seem to stay out after pressure is released so i would of thought theyd sort them selves out but mabye someone will come correct me!
IF not some spacers to move it over a couple mil?
just a thought

i got a set of wilwoods on my cortina uprights, and i didnt notice any big gaps in the pads-piston clearance, the pistons should close the gap once the fluid is pumped through.

The spacer option would make it worse, if anything the bracket needs taking down a bit. not something i'd like to try myself.

i'm hoping they will sort themselves out!

here's a pic of how they mount.
it's flush on the upright, the caliper needs to go futher towards the hub. Rescued attachment Brakecaliper.jpg

I'm sure there was someone on here a while ago saying they had the wrong offset discs I seem to remember.
I personally would not have it like that the disc should be central in the caliper.

Is that really a cortina upright?

Looks like a steel / ali copy to me. I'd therefore argue the upright has a slight error in it and perhaps that needs looking at.

Also, is the stub axle fully in place with the hub fully tightened?

You could space the disk out to suit.
But the best thing would be to re-machine the bracket or make a new one.

Are they Roty designed up rights. Did some one over here start to make them?

Regards
Jason

Are you sure?
It looks to me that the spacer option (between the caliper mount and the upright) would be the way forward???
Unless the bracket is mounted on the inside of the upright? In which case it is perfectly fine to reduce the bracket thickness to centralise your disc...

Erm they are MNR cortina uprights
so should be the same dimensions!

yea they sit on the inside of the uprights so a spacer makes it worse.

i think i'll give rally design a call, as maybe they have a different thinner bracker, that was especially made just for me! and they are waiting for my call.

thats how this kit car game works doesn't it!

edited- to say that it does seem only the oneside thats out.

I've come to expect this sort of tweaking from low volume production parts. When I received my Wilwood kit for Sierra uprights the gold brackets needed machining to get the disc centralised.

Could have been an issue as they're annodised but I was able to get them re-done locally for free.

Now I've swapped to modified Capri uprights with Willwood calipers and machined 9mm HiSpec discs and ally hubs. I'd be very surprised if it all bolted together without some fettling

Ive got wilwoods on my Raceleda front end. one spaces the caliper perfectly central, and the other side is slighty one side, but it really isnt that bit a disatance out, so im going to leave it as is.. the piston will make up the difference once pumped up
