r1 fitting

After a false start with the wrong cradle I've now got the correct one (it seems!)

it looks like everything is lining up fine, however the lower mounts are -just- off, by about 5mm or so.
I need to push the engine towards the passenger side but the metal water pipe in the exhaust side is fouling the bottom chassis bar so I cant move it enough to get a bar through the lower mounts.

anyone got any suggestions? dent the coolant pipe? take a small chunk out of the chassis ( )

cheers,
Rog

File out the hole in the bracket? Added advantage, you'll lighten the chassis at the same time . (Slight dig there)

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I would ring MNR and query your problem. Taking a chunk out of a chassis rail or denting the coolant pipe are both unacceptable IMO. The whole idea of buying a purpose made chassis is that your specified engine should drop straight in. I assume that it is the lower mounts on the offside bottom chassis rail that you can't line up. If this is the case these may be wrong. I have an R1 in my Indy and this dropped onto the mountings fine and there is plenty of clearance for the coolant pipe.

I'm sure Marc will sort it out as they always put store by good customer service.

This is an old pic of my engine installation on the Indy but you can see it fits easily.

with a little 'gentle' persuasion ive been able to bend the pipe a bit more vertical (its the one immediately to the left of the oil filter in your pic)
it does fit now and ive got the lower mounts lined up. however its still just touching the chassis. will vibrations cause problems here?

looking at your pic yours looks very close to the chassis, or is it just a trick of the perspective?
(edit), actually it looks like your engine sits about an inch and a half higher so should clear it fine.)

Mine is very close and I thought it wouldn't fit bit in the end it was OK. You have to get the angle right as you lower the engine in.

Glad you got it sorted. I think the perspective of the photo does make mine look closer than it actually is. I would try to get a little clearance off the chassis as like you say, vibration from the engine won't do it any favours.
