Richie you have the same engine as me 5jj.
Your cradle is not the same as mine.
I had to cut the tubes that the engine bolts go through as they would not line up properly but that was it.
Leave the bolts slack.
Jiggle engine a bit
Put bottom-threaded rod in.
Drill bolts down through triangle plates to fix to chassis.
Tighten up.
Job done.
Did you have problems lining up the body this is going to take some time to make it look good? Bryan

This is my 5JJ mounted in the cradle, there were 3 fine M10 bolts at the top, to mount to th ecradle, then I plan to use some 10mm Stud through the bottom mount into the chassis. Rescued attachment PICT1562.JPG

Hi Bryan, yeh it sounds as though the one I have definately isnt the right one then, MNR are on top of it and sending a new one. As for the bodywork mate, I found it fairly difficult to be honest. Just take youre time and like everyone says little by litte. I got a bit carried away on one side front where it meets the nose cose and consequently Ill need to cover it with rubber u trim. It will look fine Im sure but I know its there

Amalyos, cheers for the photos. Im in 2 minds whether to buy M10 fine bolts for the top 3 (best idea I think) or tap them out to M12. As far as the bottom mount goes, Id definately tap that out to M12. It goes through an absolute dream cos I found M10 bar was too slack in there.

Forgot to ask Amalyos, can you remember what length the M10 fine bolts were as one of them is dead short on the exhaust port side.

Cheers

RC

I don't recall the length, but you just need to check the depth in the engine and add the cradle bush thickness, to work out the length.
The threads are M10 x 1mm pitch.

Steve.

Just to let you know Richie. My 4XV had one fine thread M12 x 1.25 and two M10 x 1.00. So you may want to check?

Tapping out to M12 x 1.75 really is an easy 30 minute job.

Chris.

Mine are definately all M10x1.25. Sounds as though the 5JJ used different bolts to the 4XV.
Im tapping them out to M12 as Ill have a better choice of bolts.

Thanks Rich

Why tap the engine when you can buy bolts to fit? Surely the easiest way is the best way?

Because my bolt guy hasnt got M10 fine and it took 20 mins to tap the mounts. Had he been able to get them I would have used M10 fine bolts.

Cheers

Rich
