What have I done wrong?

I have done a mock assembly today using an old disc just to see how everything goes together and the M16 caliper is touching the hub. It is only just touching but shouldn't there be more of a gap?

I thought of putting a washer between the caliper and mounting plate but the brake disc looks central in the caliper so I don't want to offset it.

Just grind a bit off the caliper to give a couple of mm clearance. Should be plenty of metal there so shouldn't affect it in any way..

Grind but with care to remove the minimum metal -- caliper casting are quite thin in places.
