following on from yesterdays post when trial fitting my rear uprights i noticed that the drive shaft (outer end) does not fit inside the rear upright.
i have a few pics to illustrate. is this normal or am i going to need to modify the shafts or uprights to suit

can't help with your issue, but here are the pictures (clickable):
hi mate, have you offered the hub carrier up to the shaft ? It is the hub carrier that the shaft has to fit into, not the upright.
The carrier then bolts to the upright.

As above... try fitting the carrier and hub to the outer face of the upright, then fit the stub axle from the inside.

If it is anything like the indy, you need to machine off the abs ring (the teeth) with a lathe
fit the hub carrier on 1st! the aries upright is similar to yours and i`ve used ford scorpio hubs on the back with the ABS teeth and they don`t need modifying at all, when you fit the hub it should sit flush on the inside so there is no need for the drive shaft to go any further!
the hub carrier definately fits on the outside of the upright on the MNR
Looks like the same issue i had when i changed over from push in shafts to lobro when i changed over to lsd
i had to have new rear uprights made by mnr
they looked the same when i got them, the side parts of the upright were a lot thicker and a section was taken out for the lobro to fit inside
found a pic on me phone, here you can see the cut out for the lobro the sides are a bit thicker

i have had the carrier fitted but the end of the stub axle does not poke through enough to get the hub nut on!
the abs ring/teeth does not even touch the upright as the upright is blocking the shaft! its where the end of the shaft widens and bolts onto the
actual drive shaft thats the problem.
I see what the problem is now, i was a bit confused! try sending them back and have new once made or you could attempt to grind away what gets in the
way, i would personaly grind away but then thats me!

if you look at the picture minitici has posted in this thread. the very right hand edge of the parts pictured fouls the sides of the upright so the ABS ring/teeth dont butt up to the carrier. there is a gap of about 20mm meaning the stub axle does not poke through the hub enough to get a nut on!

I had similar problem on mine i ended up stripping drive shafts down, putting shaft in lathe and moving the circlip groove back 4mm on both ends by means of just holding a grinder on shaft while if was spinning slowly with a1.5mm disc in it. Works a treat and you gain about 8 to 10 mm, JOB DONE HOPE THIS HELPS.
