anyone help me find a very short catalist for my 421 mnr exhaust for sva.
anyone shortened the mnr back box.
any chance it will pas without a cat?
thanks.
MNR Have a few cat's they loan out, have you contacted Chris or Marc to see if they have one avalible?
With a BEC theres no chance to to get the emmissions low enough to pass SVA without one.
Lee.
i know about the loan cats but after fidling with my exhaust tonight i dont think they will help much.
i will be f~@:>d off if the headers have to come back off
I used one of the loan cats & an mnr exhaust can, which as you know is a long can, I had to shorten the headers at the collectors quite a bit.
I didnt take them off the car, just used an air saw to shorten them & re fitted the collectors.
If your using an MNR exhaust can, there is probably no chance you will get a cat in line unless you shorten the headers or shorten the can, but I
would not recommend shortening the can as mine was the full length & only just passed the noise test.

I am using a short cat and R1 exhaust....
got the cat from a fellow of here but you can also get similar ones from Jetex...
jetex one is £285, not good
any one no of better options for cat.
I'm not quite sure why you're not going for the option of borrowing one for SVA. As I understand it the MNR loan cat and silencer is a straight swap for the standard MNR silencer. Have you checked with MNR?
I had to shorten my headers becasue of the same problem when using MNR loan CAT. Marc gave me a measurement that the headers shuld be to the collector as they are supplied long. My exhaust is 4 into 1 so not sure if the same applies to 4-2-1 best ring them and check.
I had to chop the headers down a bit to get all mine to fit together.
ive got a 4" long cat like alot of people have on here shipped from the U.S of A. ( like the one in the photos further up) im sure the one MNR
loan out is the same?
My exhaust can is from Car Builder Solutions like this:

not a lot of room for a cat here.

I think you are missing a short link pipe with a small bend in it to get the silencer to line up with the chassis (along the passenger side panel).
When I was fitting my can I had exactly the same problem...
I pulled a standard R1 can apart...

And then welded a very similar CAT to this (different inlet and outlet OD's) ...
Click Me for ebay link
... to the same flange that used to hold the tiny standard CAT on. And then inserted the whole assembly into the back of the silencer where there is
loads of room free. It's exactly what Richard Miles did on his original Striker.
I know this doesn't help in the short term. But my SVA exhaust will probably be available in the next month or so?
Hope this helps,
Chris.

Hello,
Give MNR a call, i had almost no spare room with my MNR exhaust and marc just put a cat and different/smaller can on it worked perfect.
