Wiper position

Is there an easy way of working out the length of wiper arm / position of the wheel boxes etc. I've put paper onto the screen and drawn the intended arc on them but how do you work out what to do next?
Do the arms need bending at all? I also seem to remember reading on this list about moving rivets on the wiper arms but can't find anything about it in the search... Help!
TIA,

Ben

Have you already bought your wiper arms etc ?
If not i have some new ones i cant use, they adjust from about 9.5" to 11" from the centre of the spindle to the end of the arm,
they park on the passenger side, also have 9" blades to suit,
the reason they're for sale is that i changed the park position from passenger to drivers side, they have never been used,
let me know if they're any use

Afraid so!! I've got a nice little collection of bits- bought before thinking! Bought some driver side park arms first (!) then bought some passenger side parks arms, I also stupidly bought both 11" and 10" blades at a show!!
Now I've got some 8" arms which are just fine....
I think the bits are right- the only problem is the positioning and whether the springs in the arms are too strong....

So it's not just me that buys first then thinks later !!
I suppose the thing to do is to measure the distance from the top point of the arc to where the wheel box should be on the bulkhead then using something the same length, strip of wood/ally etc see where it goes with regard to park position by moving it through the intended arc
If you can get the tip of the 'tool' to touch the arc in three places, top, left and right then you're not a million miles out
Remember It's got to provide the driver with good visibility when they're being used so allow for that.
As for the spring being too strong it depends on the angle of the spindle i suppose, there are some spindle mounts that reduce the angle and they may be your best bet,

I'll pop in the garage and have a look, i'm sure my mini wipers are 290mm apart from centre to centre.

I also found some info from surrey daves website or photo archive too.

One other thing i found was that the mini motor swaps ends so to achieve right hand drive wipers you need to flip the wheel boxes over.
I have noticed a lot of builders leave the wipers in left hand drive form but its worth the effort to gain proper vision.

ok from centre of scuttle the drivers wiper wheel box measures 170mm and the passenger wiper box is 110mm from the centre making them 280mm apart.

My wiper boxes are as far as i know standard and i think 120 degree sweep, the arms were bought at an autojumble and are shorter than the mini ones (i also managed to bend the arms a tad)

SS blades were from premier wiring systems and i cut an inch off each end.

hope this helps.
