I was an autosol convert until.............

(halford stock this, I bought the small £7 pot and have used very little for a whole car side)

I think it is a finer compound than autosol, seems to work very quickly and easily. My aluminium side panels are very shiny now .

Anyone else tried it ?

Hi mate - would that help remove corrosion?

My mates ally side panels have this nasty white corrosion on them (I think its salt) - would that take it off

I don't know, it seems to have removed the salt marks from the few winter drives I took, but you can still see them if you look very closely. It might take a few goes and some elbow grease to get all the corrosion off.

You know what they say "the more you rub it the better it gets" !

on another topic did that alternator stay arrive I sent the other week ?

I've got a can of stuff that's used in the aviation industry for polishing metal. Had it 3 years or so and still have 2/3rds left. It's the best thing I've ever used, totally non abrasive but cleans yellowed exhausts up to a gleamy finish. Fantastic on stainless and just the same on ali.

Best of all, it was free

How does it polish metal then?? Chemical process? Is it a pickling solution?

Cheers

Try Stella Artois when polishing, then you can get all pickled and shiny!

it says "contains" kaolin" so it is obviously mildly abrasive. Not sure what else it has in it though.

Thanks for the tip. i got me a pot of Maguires the other day - my word it is great stuff.

A couple of ali trims had some oxidation on them and were never polished up before fitting, a very quick rub over with this stuff soon had them well shiny.

10/10 from me.

I would second Belgom it works really well on tired m/c engine cases and seems not to discolour with heat
