Grille mesh
Grille mesh
I have made , but not fixed the grille below.
I have been advised , that it may not offer enough airflow to the rad.
Any experience or thoughts on this, before I give it to the wife for making spaghetti?

I was tempted by this design but when you look closely it has more metal than holes - which must be a bad thing for airflow. In the end I went for the
conventional diamond mesh which appears to flow better.
I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try it

Considering the b***dy great hole in the front of the Locost nose cone, I would think that you would have no problem with the grill shown. As
it's fairly easy to remove the nose cone, why not just try it, if it gets too hot whip it out and fit something less filling, but don't
think you will need to. IMHO. atb Chippy

Colin,
Looking at your archive it looks like you're using an escort rad which must be larger than the original fireblade one so I would be suprised if
you are short of cooling for your motor with that grill.

Depends what engine you are using... ZX12R you would overcook the engine!

Yes it is a Blade and I like your logic, so will probably give it a try.
If I fix it in with PU it should come out again if needsbe too.

surely it doesn;t matter how big the radiator is if you cannot get enough air through?
look nice though but I wouldn't use it; shopping trolley, you know it makes sense.
Really must get round to posting the details about the mesh supplies that I have used in the past....

true but running a larger rad you need less air flow to get the equivalent cooling as there is a greater surface area to discipate the heat.

I'm thinking about it but still not convinced. If you take that to extreme, say have a 2 inch diameter hole, then surely no matter how big your
radiator is, you will not get the air flow to move the heated air out?

In the extreme I would probably agree with you, but I really think that this is taking it a bit far in the context of this thread. The grill pictured

I was tittering about the eating of headgear
I will see what turns up when I have to fit it...... I can see the potential problrm but maybe the bigger rad and the smaller holes will even
themselves out?

Try this chap, he was very helpful to me with a piece fo 1/2" welded stainless mesh. If you want it orientated as diamonds, it will cost a
little more, as its cust form a larger area.
Nice quality mesh.
Still, he is helpful, and not too expensive.
I have no commercial connection other than being a satisfied customer.
