Lights on REAR cycle wings

Is there any reason that lights attached to rear cycle wings are not allowed by SVA? I ask the question because they will obviously bounce around more because they are not isolated from the suspension like conventional rear wings are.

sorry should have explained - I am making my own bodywork, sort of a futuristic 7. I am putting front cycle wings on the back of the car. So I wont be using rear arches that are usually used on most 7 style kits.

Any ideas?

Must have my thick head on because what you have written makes no sense to me.
Rear wings are isolated, are not normally cycle type.

Hammer,

Can you just confirm whether you mean rear arches or cycle wings same as the front, I assume you are building an Indy so if it's rear arches then they are isolated from the suspension as they are attached to the body\chassis and not the suspension and everyone puts them on the rear arches.

Rich.

some people put indicators on the front cycle wings. If this is OK then I don'e see why rear lights on rear cycle wings wouldn't be OK. What does the SVA manual say?

Yes like that Mookaloid.

And yes Mike the car you are refering to the 'Toniq R' did use cycle wings on the rear. But I don't know if that car was SVA tested.

Thats the sort of thing I am doing.

I don;t recall reading anything about the rear lights being fixed in position in the SVA book.

the only thinkg that would trouble me is if the SVa inspector got stroppy about them being out of the required position when the suspension moves relative to the body - not sure how he could test that though!

you may want to consider LED bulbs as they are immunue to vibration unlike filament bulbs.

I'm sketching as we speak. I am going to put the cars that have offered inspiration on my website soon.

Its inspired by a few different cars and will feature higher sides than standard, this is for side impact protection, as I find the current 7 design a bit expossed if you get T-Boned!

I made a carbon fibre monocoqued folding 3 wheeler bike when i was at Uni. But that was 6 years ago, so now I plan to produce a one off called 'Hammerhead'

seems there is no clear reason not to put lights on the rear cycle wings.

I reckon I will just make the car as I want it to be and then worry about sva compliance.
