Radical rear lights
Was looking to do something slightly different with my rear lights,fog and reverse in particular.Whatya think.
Still need a bit of fettling.

Look really good, but your coffee cup looks like it is just about to drop off the rear panel

It's o.k. if the coffee cup falls , there is a power cable under it to heat the coffee up. Rusty

My initial reaction to the 1st picture was 'ooooh no' nice idea but not pretty.
But they do look cool in the 2nd picture so maybe its just the angle of the photo.
How about a wider angle picture so we can see them in the context of the car as a whole?

Looks like a good idea to me - different, but fitting for the car. Do the tubes need to be so long? May be better when viewed from above if they were
shorter.

I think the tube idea looks well smart. Is it OK for SVA?
This thread has just reminded me about a quandry that i have ref fog lights. I can get hold of the lights that are fitted to the back of landrovers
qite cheap. They also come with coloured bulbs and smoked glass covers. Can i use these for fogs / reverse lights if they have the correct wattage
bulbs or do they have to be the normal sqaure type. The reason i ask is that id like to fit 3 round lights to each rear arch with none (apart from no.
plate light) on th erar panel. (stop/tail, indicator and reverse on one side, stop/tail, indicator and fog on the other side).
Does anyone know of potential SVA problems with this configuration?

Plenty of "normal" cars do not have rectangular fog lights - in fact, I can't think of many that do!

The Pics might be a but deceiving Andy the shorter tube is about 21/2 inch at the top end the longer 3 1/2. Both are bits of down spout the lights are
12v halogen cupboard lights one with a bit of red filter behind the lens about a fiver each.

Radical rear lights
Splitrivet - I was thinking of using some similar "hamburger" lights http://www.nfauto.co.uk/rear_lights_new.htm.
What I wanted to know was how did you manage to measure/cut the hole in the wing for the hamburger lights? You obviously can't just cut a circle
because of the angle.

Those lights remind me of 2 things.
The first is the smoke granade lanchers on milatry vehicles.
The second is James Bond style weapons hidden behind lights.
Not a good combination for any cars caught behind you.

"Hamburger" Rear lights
Got mine from Premier Wiring Prods, Stafford show, last year, £5 each.
Splitrivet, how did you fettle yours?
Looks as though you recessed them into the rear wheel arches. Is there sufficient clearance between rear wheel & back of light assy?
Was considering fitting my lights into plastic stench pipe body, but still unsure how to fix to wheelarch.

They are recessed Dick and there is plenty of clearance.Just used the largest hole saw I could find (complete set in B&Q £8 ) and drilled the
wings after first masking taped em up and kept the drill parallel with the ground,then loads of filing and then PU'd the lights into place from
the rear.

I like the idea very much. I too agree that the upper tubes stand out a bit too much, but the idea is very good.
I considered mounting round LED lights in carbon tubes but dismissed the idea because I assumed that matching the profile to the wing would be too
difficult.
So the question is, how difficult was it to round the tubes to match the wing? From the pics, it looks like yor got it perfectly...

Dead easy Chris, stuck a couple of adhesive backed sanding discs to the wing, clamped a slat of wood as a guide to the wing then just sanded the tube
along the guide after first cutting it to the correct angle with a mitre saw.
The tubes were then superglued into place the wings were removed and PU squirted into the tube to a depth of 10 mill or so.Belt and braces the lights
were then drilled thru and a length of nylon threaded rod passed thru with a wedge shaped washer inside the wing.
Ive shortened the tubes slightly from the original Photos.

Are the rear hazards 100mm from the brake lights? It's hard to tell from the pictures. I reckon they'll look better now you've
shortened them, any more pictures?

I was going to use the lower half of the hamburger as brake light Pete so they are over 100mill.
Was going to go out and do a bit tonight and take some photo's but its too chuffin cold,just spent the last three weeks refurbing the kitchen so
havent touched the car, you start getting out of the habit of working in a cold garage freezing yer cahones off.

They look very 'Morgan'. If you put running boards on the side as well it would really give it a period look .
