Maybe a silly idea but a heat gun and a rag might work?

I once scraped the polish and wax off a wardrobe prior to painting by dragging a Stanley knife blade over it.

Lay brown paper over the wax and iron it. It should leave a nice smooth finish. It works on parents sofas too.

Acetone... It dissolves mould wax and is used throughout the industry to strip wax from a mould/plug.

Are the lumps that you can feel in the mould or in the wax? If they are in the mould, just remove the wax locally for the repair, rather than from the whole mould.
