bloody caravans
had a little accident last nyt
the car rolled backwards into my parents caravan straight onto the towing bracket
ouch, straight through the fibre glass and clipped the fuel tank
the fuel tank is thankfully ok but the back panel is badly damaged at one side
there is a big piece about 7 x 4 inches in size that has been ripped off and a crack all the wat to the bottom
im wondering if it would be possible to fix this or should i buy a new one
the new ones from mk have gone up in price to 94 quid so would like to try and fix it
plus getting one up here is gonna be a pain too
what are my options?

Ya know it's never gonna be the same Pat, buy a new one! 
Some tosser in a mErC nearly did the same to us... he was reversing straight out of a parking bay. Still, he could hardly see us, such was the height
of the boot.

Because it was there . I did the same with my car nosecone actually still in the shed  . The clutch plate was stuck so I revved it and pushed the
lever, it leapt forward 2 feet and smacked the nose against my bike. I broke all the loose stuff off, backed it with some matting and used filler on
the front. It looks as good as new with a coat of paint.

well it was in the way
ok so it was my fault
was divistated when i seen it
was lucky really , the back panel is the only real damage done

ill post a pic tonight to show you all the extent of the damage and let you judge for yourselfs
i reckons it is possible to repair
gonna take it up to my local bodywork guy tonight
he a good guy so might be able to do it for far less than a new
hes gonna be doin the full paint job on it anyway

hey up, hard luck m8,
if it makes you feel any better, we had an electrican at home who knocked a 2`` square section of steel onto my freshly painted alu bonnet, lucky for
him i wasnt there or i would hav wraped it rounf his head
a agree with hellfire, it will look fine repaired but never the same as new unless you are painting it in which case i would patch it.... can you
not put you spare wheel / number plate/ lights etc to cover the repair??

well im plannin on having it all sprayed one colour at some point anyway so might be ok repaired
wats the deal with gel coating can it be done diy style?
the cars a fair bit off sva so its not that urgent anyway
jus doesnt look as good anymore

Cut the spiky bits off
put it in place and put a couple of layers of matting on the back of it. Then fill the gaps with some body filler and fetch it down to the level of
the surrounding panel. It doesn't look like it's gone round the corner so it should be fairly easy to finish. You'll save the cost
of a new panel. Alternatively fit it till you get insured, then claim for it

Alternatively, get some thin ally and self tapper it over the wound (wrapped around the corner)with a sheet of clingfilm between the ally and the
panel. Relaminate from the inside and stopper the outside and block it flat with some 240, paint as normal.
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Mark - if i am reading right you mean to create a new piece to fill the hole rather than using the bit which has fallen out do you? I have no need to
do this at present but maybe useful for the future - you never know!

Yes you make a new piece, that way you only have one laminate bond to make (new to old) instrad of 2 (old to new to old). The ally make for a female
mould

any idea as to the costs?
also wat exactly do i need and where can i get it?
likei said the whole car including the side panels will sparyed the same colour so nobody should be able to tell unless the see the inside
