I bought some from the local chandlers. They had it in tape, patches or rolls.

A couple of sources;
1) skateboard shops - grip tape, used on the top of the boards.
2) IKEA - grip tape for stair treads etc...
IKEA is the cheapest source I've found but it comes on a roll and is only about 30mm wide.

If you have a youngish attractive female to hand, send her to get some and you'll probably get it for free.

or for a locost solution you could glue some sand-paper off-cuts to your pedals.
Finally back on the job!

Wot he said. On rally cars we used to stick emery cloth with contact adhesive. Your driving boots wear out before the emery.

Depends what your pedals are made of. I made my brake and clutch pedals of Alu' and I put some anti-slip tape on them.
My throttle pedal is steel. I put some ribs on the steel pedal face with my MIG welder.
I guess you could use some kind of chequer plate too.
