Picked up my bodywork from MK. The bonnet has a problem at the front side area where it meets the nosecone and side panel. See pics. Also there are a few black marks in the gel coat visible against the yellow panel.

Do you think I should take it back and get it replaced or wont it be noticable after fitting?

The second to last pic is bad panel from the side and shows it's not quite straight , The last pic is the good side and as it should be.

UPDATE: I reckon the gelcaot chipped when they tried to remove from the mould and they have tried to hide it by sanding the panel. It's not a case that they need to be bent, there isn't enough material there to begin with. Also the black marks look like debris IN the gelcoat not on the surface.

heat from a hair dryer should make the grp soft enough to bend with your hands (wear oven gloves!) as for the black makes try t-cut to buff them out. looks quite typical kit car panels to me, unless you pay much for for some westfield ones.

yep mine couldn't be classed as mint and had the odd scuff etc, nothing major but when you've just picked it up you expect it to be mint.

I fealt the same but once you start actually putting it together you'd be amazed at how the overall effect takes away from any slight imperfections etc.

On the gel coat front I can't comment as the panels were black, ultimately if you're not happy ring them and see what they can do about it.

I overall found the guys at MK to be helpful if slightly scatty with remembering to send stuff out etc.

tbh their no worse or better than the panels I got from MK. I found I managed to do more damage to the panels during their stay in my garage working on the car, usually doing my mock ups when they'd promptly fall off onto the floor

I agree with the above, no matter how careful you are something is going to get dropped/scratched looked at wrong and is going to end up worse than it is now.

Looking at those edges don't forget you'll probably cover/add trim to a lot of them or you won't see them when assembled.

I spent an age cursing myself fo scratching the scuttle when a ratchet got dropped walking past and in the end it go covered by the base of a mirror.

The main problem is the one of the colour in the gel coat. As Mr Whippy says T cut or simliar might cure it, but if you're not happy ring MK and see what they say about it, just take into account the delay in possibly getting a new panel in the right colour.

Yep they look the same as mine. I doubt you will notice once you start putting them on as the comments above.

Aye, mine were the same but like everyone has already said, you cant see anything at all when the car is complete.

They look mint compared to my luego ones!!!

I doubt youl notice them when theyr fitted and as said, Im sure they will pick up the odd knock about your garage no matter how hard you try not to.

By the time you get them on the road they'll be gravel rashed and chipped like you won't believe.....

I wouldn't worry... The STM GRP was pretty good when I got it but it's definately pre-loved now!!!
