Female M6 bolts needed
se7ensport - 8/4/08 at 12:35 PM

i'm looking for the female equivalent of a M6x10 bolt, would look a bit like a rivnut but with a domed hex head, I just can't kind them as I don't know what they are called.

Any pointers?

I've tried searching for them but only finding the male equivalent.

Are these not want you want?

Bear in mind that the female version of a bolt is a nut

their used to hold the walls of toilet cubical together

You're looking for Long Nuts - try somewhere like Titan Fastners.

except when its not....

it would look just like a button head bolt, but the thread is on the inside as per Mr Whippy's pic above. I think I may have come across them in the past on bike brake leavers as it has a smooth outside for the lever to pivot on.

The long nut search has sort of paid off in that I've now got a better image, unfortunatley the one I've found it plastic.

Think I've seen similar on mini motos that hold the fairing on, through the frame and the flage head screw on the outside. Maybe worth a search

If you cant find exactly what you are after, in the past I've just used 2 dome hex head stainless bolts with a length of studding connector in the middle, leaves you with the same lack of thread sticking out anywhere but means you can source it easily!!! (can definitely get M6 studding connector in SS, then you just need a couple of 5mm long button head SS bolts

I had some (they were probably M6 as well), but I used them fitting the door handle to my garage door, as it's apparently made of cardboard...... they came with the door handle iirc..

Good luck searching for long nuts btw....

At work we call them camtainers. I'll see if I can find out who makes them tommorrow.

Commonly called 'Sleeve Nuts' in some parts of the world.
