Ideas for Vinyl Graphics Please Guys
RazMan - 31/1/07 at 02:55 PM

I am thinking of applying some graphics to my finished car in an effort to make the rather plain paintwork a little more dynamic - mainly the side view. It ocurred to me that there is a wealth of experience on here and I would really value any ideas or suggestions from you guys. I am open to literally ANYTHING but I would ideally like to disguise the many shut lines that are on the sides

First of all, here is a 'blank canvas'

Five minutes in Corel Draw and I came up with this ....... a bit naiive but you get the gist of the way I'm going Rescued attachment Side view for graphics 2.jpg

Now I would really love to see what you guys can come up with - a magazine feature is looming on the horizon and I would ideally like to get it done before the photo shoot

If your design is used I will of course give you due credit in the feature.

No designs yet, but I really like the ultra shiny 'chrome' effect vinyl. Really look good on your very modern car. Just a Thought !

This car used it at Brands ! Rescued attachment DSCF0041.JPG

Personally, mate, I think your "blank canvas" looks pretty damn good! The shut lines look fairly even and tight, so they add to the technical look... just MHO, anyway.

If you are dead set on doing something, how about a Ford GT40 style graphic, maybe extended to cover the whole bottom side panel - in white/off-white, with a logo or name cut out so you can see the body colour through. Rescued attachment Ford-GT40-Mach-1-b.jpg

RazMan - 31/1/07 at 03:26 PM

The single stripe is an interesting idea although I am not sure about the yellow - maybe silver as the rest of the car is in blue & grey.

adampage - 31/1/07 at 03:26 PM

... leaving it simple.

It's a great shape, lovely paint job, (and cool headlights too!) so why clutter it up with silly patterns, stripes, etc?

While you might be lucky and find a really cool design, there's a good chance it might just look naff.

Just MHO of course....

Adam.

macnab - 31/1/07 at 03:27 PM

When I read that you nearly got a big NNOOO!! as I thought you were going to do it 'Fast & Furious' Style, i.e totally spoil it....

But I like the bottom one with the yellow stripes.

Then again your car is perfect as it is. I think you car looks more sophisticated and exotic just as it is and graphics or stripes would just lower the tone of the car. Much like doing the same thing to a Ferrari.

I do like Hammerheads interpretation of the classic Ford Stripes... Can't go wrong with those.

All in your humble opinion of course...

02GF74 - 31/1/07 at 03:44 PM

silver fat stripe along the bottom looks fine;

can you paint the top (removeable?) the same colour (silver) to make is less obvious?

macnab - 31/1/07 at 03:45 PM

I am a expert at f&^king up cars with stripes. Taunt me again and I'll attach a picture of one off my bluebirds...I will you know

[Edited on 31/1/07 by macnab]

RazMan - 31/1/07 at 03:46 PM

or ...

c) enhance it a little

The only removable bits are the windows (so it is a sort of T top I suppose)

'Pussy' - tasteful .... very tasteful

Hammerhead - 31/1/07 at 03:53 PM

well I was really liking the silver stripe best...............until I came up with the pussy wagon!!

David Jenkins - 31/1/07 at 03:58 PM

My vote is for leaving it alone - it looks so nice without tarting it up. There's a significant risk of "chavving" if you're not careful!

Just my 2p's-worth.

David

I asked someone to do a Rs200 style White with blue stripes on the Legerra and i got this

Just be warned what people get up to in photoshop !!

RazMan - 31/1/07 at 06:38 PM

greggors84 - 31/1/07 at 07:34 PM

Jonno, take that back to the paint shop now and demand a refund!

As the Aeon the last one looks the best. Simple and gives it that racing look.

jonno - 31/1/07 at 08:42 PM

that's the badger.

slims the sill down that looks too bulky in just blue. also draws the eye away from the back end that sort of doesn't match the side (imho of course).

i'd have that one if i were my car.
