Hello,

Im due for my MOT next week and im not sure my head light are in correctly and pointing the right way!!

Any suggestions other than going out in the dark parking in the road and messing till they look 'right?'

Cheers

I set mine up in garage and was told they were spot on at SVA.

I started with a largish board of ply and mounted it vertically with spirit level in front of car (maybe 12" in front). I held spirit level on top of lights and marked a point on the board dead ahead. I then marked down 1/2 diameter of light bowl (ie centre point of light). Repeated for other side and drew a horizontal line between. I then maked the centre of each light with short vertical mark on the board so i had the exact dead ahead centre position of each. Main beam on. Firstly i rotated the lens' so that the beam pattern was as shown in SVA manual (there is a horizontal bit that should be parallel to horizontal line and an angled bit on the beam pattern). The centre of each headlight beam (ie brightest point)was aligned to the center cross marks on the board. I then changed to dipped beam and made sure each beam was below and to the left of the centre cross point.

Job done. Much harder to type than it is to do.

HTH, Darren.

Why not just ask them to align them?

What we always used to do was park in close to a wall square on and make some chalk marks on the wall. then adjust lights to fit marks. Not sure now where you can get the measurements etc from though......

Ive tried most of the different ways for this in the past, chalk marks on garage doors etc. By far and away the best way is like shortie says, get the MOT bloke to do it for you. Itll take him seconds.

Followed the basic setup procedure for an Escort as shown in the Haynes manual, but with the light centre height to suit the Luego, it was just about spot on at SVA, no adjustment required. Rescued attachment HLights_Adjusted_a.jpg
