Rusty grill :(
Humbug - 15/1/06 at 11:53 AM

Just washed the motor and noticed that my nice grill (rubbed down, primered x2 sprayed with aluminium paint x2) is going rusty. (I know the blue is coming off as well, but that's down to it being internal quality gloss!).

Any suggestions?

1. remove, strip down, redo, possibly adding a coat of lacquer this time? Trouble is, I would need to buy more paint except for the lacquer (=more expense)

2. replace with stainless mesh? or plastic (anyone got any spare bits big enough?

3. buy a grill... even though it is not a Cateringvan I quite like having the 7 on there, to acknowledge the influence

Looking forward to the educated replies

You could take your grill and get it plastic coated. And then paint the 7.

See if you can find a local place that does powder coating. We had ours powder coated for a fiver - as cheap as a tin of spray paint and without the hassle.
