Calling mr Triton!
NS Dev - 11/1/06 at 04:02 PM

Just wondered if you could post a pic of your cycle wings on here.

I enquired about a pair in CF before chrimbo but need to see em first (pic of grp ones will be fine) to assess the visual "fit" with the rest of the car!

Christmas didn't hit the wallet QUITE as cripplingly as I thought it would so have some cash available!

MikeR - 11/1/06 at 07:09 PM

Git ..........

(thats directed at NS Dev in case anyone is wondering)

Triton - 11/1/06 at 07:55 PM

Not that clever an angle sorry, they have a section on the side to allow the wing stays to pass up and under the wing.

Should have better pics Friday and it will be a Carbon fibre jobbie. Rescued attachment Wide cycle wing.jpg

Triton - 11/1/06 at 09:39 PM

NS Dev - 12/1/06 at 09:29 AM

Price is "very competitive" shall we say!!!

Cheers Triton, a pic from the other side where the stays go when you take the pics of the carbon jobbie would be great.

thanks

Nat

..................in fact, sod it, they look smart and are just the right proportions, so I'll email you tonight when I can use my home email to sort out payment etc and will order a pair of wings and the carbon dash (the one with the "middle bit" )

Nat

Do you have "wrap around" wings, Triton?

Triton - 14/1/06 at 10:54 PM

Wraparound? as in longer to cover more of the front of the tyre?

Triton - 14/1/06 at 10:54 PM

Or do you mean like these? Rescued attachment Carbon cycle wing a.jpg

Yes

Triton - 17/1/06 at 10:15 PM

What would be the popular tyre width to pick on then people if we get stuck into making a longer cycle wing?

stevebubs - 18/1/06 at 12:40 AM

205 is realistically about as wide as you can go on these types of cars, but I think most people run 185s....

Triton - 18/1/06 at 08:31 AM

Will get the wood bloke on the case

flak monkey - 18/1/06 at 08:43 AM

Shall be running 195's on mine. Probably the most popular width...

MikeR - 18/1/06 at 05:14 PM

185's when i get round to finishing it.

i'd guess 185 is the most popular based on its about the widest tyre you can get on capri lasers which most real locosters will be using.

(who says i'm trying to start a fight?)

flak monkey - 18/1/06 at 05:24 PM

You can get 195's on 6J Capri Lazers... Though as standard they were fitted with 185's (which incidently is what mine (lasers) have on at the moment).

MikeR - 18/1/06 at 05:29 PM

oooh, interesting. I'd have put money on Avon / Yoko / someone elses web site says the min rim with for 195's is more than 6".

I'll have to dig around again now.

flak monkey - 18/1/06 at 05:45 PM

Hi Mike,

Go here:
http://www.rochfordtyres.co.uk/tyrecalc.asp

Stick your tyre size into the 'rim width calculator' and it will tell you what rims it will fit on.

195/60/13 will go on 5.5-7" rims.

David

ned - 18/1/06 at 06:21 PM

i have a set of 6" wide steel peugeot 106 rallye wheels with 195's on them. the tyre sits very square to the rim, but does not curve outside the rim width.

Ned.

mickebo - 18/1/06 at 07:30 PM

205/40-17 (same diameter as 185/65-14)

fun site - thanks, seems 215's will fit onto 6" rims! I'm quite shocked.

Sierra XR4x4 uses 5.5" rims with 195-60 x 14's

Triton - 19/1/06 at 08:16 AM

Okey doke, a new longer wing that will cover half the wheel/tyre will be started as soon as the wood bloke has time.....I don't do wood as far too weird a stuff to play with, always ends up either bigger or smaller than expected for some daft reason.....the day somebody invents a wood welder I will be ok

Peteff - 19/1/06 at 10:03 AM

The good old stick welder.

mickebo - 16/4/06 at 10:56 PM

Where are those wings?

SMB - 17/4/06 at 07:56 AM

I am looking at doing a version of the new Caterham cycle wing, they do look nice with the built in indicators.

First up will cover 13" 185

The 17" 205 (Dax Rush owner after soom)

Its a plan, a very cunning plan too!

ned - 17/4/06 at 11:50 AM

No offence mr SMB, but if you have products to sell could you stop hijcaking other peoples threads and start your own and please contact Chrisw about becoming a registered trader, seems only fair to me.

cheers,

Ned.

JoelP - 17/4/06 at 01:33 PM

ditto what ned says ^^^

SMB - 17/4/06 at 02:25 PM

I have contacted him with u2u.

Waiting for reply.

As for hijacking, if i answer in his its a hijack and if he answers in mine its not?

How does that work?

MikeR - 17/4/06 at 02:42 PM

he's a registered trader, you're not!

post a separate thread when you've got pictures of the wings with integrated indicators, i'm starting to like that idea.

Triton - 17/4/06 at 02:54 PM

Chris is a busy bloke so best to email him.

Didn't mean to hijack i replied with a picture showing double skin....."my bad"

MikeR - 17/4/06 at 03:04 PM

actually, i just read the other post - i didn't think of it as a hijack at all, you didn't "sell" your products, merely tried to explain what a potential customer was talking about.
