I would like to make some form of boot space in my car, but at the moment I'm a bit short of ideas...
It's a book-standard Locost, with square tube at the front of the hole, and ali bent over round tube at the back. The front I can cope with, but
it's the back that bothers me.
I don't want to do anything that forces me to lose the ali finish on the bodywork, but I will paint the boot lid.
So... has anyone got a few piccies I can look at (and blatently nick all the useful tricks! )
All ideas gratefully received.
David

I forgot to mention that I have a very hefty roll bar that goes down to the base of the boot area and gets in the way of everything!
...but saying that, your idea may fit the bill just nicely! I'd had this idea fixed in my head that the box had to go the whole way to the
back rail, but your solution would work well. I'd have to get a soft cover, though.
Any more ideas, folks?

There is also room behind it ,above the tank for my 'Flintstones hood' and an umbrella.........

there was a post on here not so long back where someone started with a cardboard box template then made it out of ali - it looked good and wouldnt be
difficult to make hinged lid. This way you can make it fit all available space.
Could the MK moulding be adapted?
I think the cardboard template person was me. Look in my photo archive for pics of the box and cover, in and out of the car.
NB not all the photos are next to each other...

I made mine this weekend, the picture is without the bootlid fitted (I had the lid but no compartment for SVA)

That is remarkably similar to what I've got planned! If I get time this weekend it'll be cardboard-cutting time...
cheers,

I ploughed in with the ally, no cardboard (its thicker for a start!). Remember to make allowances for the rivet heads, I flattened mine off using 2 hammers, you can get them almost flush if you are careful
