I have just unwrapped my windscreen for my fury, and have found that
it has delaminated in the bottom right corner.
I have had it for over 4 years so I doubt I can get a refund.
Will this be an IVA failure?
windscreen
I have drawn a line around the extreme edge of the damage and put a sheet of paper behind it.
Can it be repaired or do I have to get a new one?
Any constructive help gratefully welcome. - it is a 'pain'
Thanks.
Would a windscreen repair work for that? Drill a hole through the first layer, inject the glue (or whatever it is) then at least it won't
spread?
I suspect it would fail IVA, it will either be because of the lamination directly, or under the normal 'drivers wiper swept area' rules.
The problem is if you leave it it will get water in between the two pieces of glass and go white
you could take it to a windscreen repair firm and they could inject resin into it then you could get the paper work to say it has been repaired
psv buses would fail on this sorry
jacko
Thanks Jacko, that is the sort of repair I was thinking off.
The last thing I want to do is stick it on and then find out I have got to replace it anyway.
Anyone got a perfect S3 windscreen???
As well as the repair, or instead of for IVA, could you add a strip of coloured vinyl along the bottom? Pretend it's suposed to be there....?!
I'd suspect it'd fail IVA but I suspect it's something only the inspector knows. Logically...
You have to have a laminated screen for IVA.
Your screen is de-laminated.
You don't have a laminated screen
You fail.
I doubt it can be repaired but you'd have to ask a windscreen specialist to know for sure.
You don't want to fit it and then have to remove as that isn't easy on the GRP frame.
...and it's an S2 screen (also fitted to early S3s) as the later S3 one is different.
Thanks Adithorp,
Makes perfect sense.
Good tip about the Elan model.
S2 it is then.
Anyone have a perfect screen for an S2?
If I was car engined I would go electric heated. Ricky Evans sometimes has them in stock.
A vinyl sticker may work for IVA but if the tester thinks you are taking the p155 he will find something else to fail you on.

never heard of anyone fixing that, can't you get a replacement from the kit manufacturer due to that one being faulty?
To be fair if that has delaminated in the box it would have out of the box and isnt fit for purpose. I'd at least be looking for a good will gesture.
I know what you mean, but I bought it from BGH and now Steve owns the company.
Not his fault.
I will mention it to him, but I won't push it.
Thanks for the sympathy.
