So I have a few track-days lined up, and zero storage in the car whatsoever.
It's cool when mates come along in their cars as support vehicles, but I don't like relying on the fact people are free to join me.
In order to get more storage, my idea is to buy a roof box, and fit it to the top of my cage on quick release mounts, so I can just undo it when
I'm at the airfield, or circuit, and crack on...
Has anyone done it before? I think its a particularly decent idea, my misses thinks 'it'll look silly' (not when she sees the one
I'm after it won't lol)
I've googled it, and can't see any people with kits having done it before, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the first...

Thats a great Idea.
Never seen it, never heard of it, but love it!
Crack on and show us the pics.
Oh and make sure you tilt it forward, you dont want your tools all over the road behind you as it rips off!!
It's been tried before.

The biggest downside is if you don't have a screen you end up being sat in a 70mph wind tunnel.
When we drove out to the ring last year we removed the passenger seat and loaded the footwell
Wouldn't want to go to the faff of removing a seat to be honest, especially if I'm going to a trackday...
I'll buy one anyway, and give it a go... Yes I have no windscreen, just an aero screen
Im sure ive seen one fixed onto a full cage, it might have been LocoR1 ??
It would certainly add a serious amount of storage space to a seven type

It should naturally tilt forward... Here is the car and cage, they'll be mounted on the front to back bars...
a pair of wheels would fit in my passenger wheel well and on the seat...
The roof box would be for low entry alloy jack, tool kit, tool bag, snap on gun, tyre pressure gauge, overalls, and some snacks lol
Here ya go

Cosmetically it'd have to look half decent, so I like the look of the 'Mont Blanc Vista 450 Roof Box Gloss Black (450 Litres)'
Yeah boiiiiii lol
I used a Yakima rack...worked well and could fit wheels and a tool box:
I can't imagine the driving experience would be enhanced with the brick on top and change to the centre of gravity, but should work
Gives me another reason to have a full roll cage.
