As soon as I took one out the box and saw the white nylock insert I knew....

I want to drill and tap the cage and mount these on the side.. anyone know what damn American thread they are??

Am I right in thinking its 1/4 UNF??

HOW TO CHECK???

not sure drilling holes in the cage is a good idea is it? maybe weldf a tab onto the cage the drill into that?

Think he's welding in threaded inserts if I remember correctly.

Use a large P clip, then you don't need to weld or drill your cage.

WHAT THREAD IS IT!!!!!

SPA mirrors are 2BA, though that's more like m5

Not sure what yours are but don't discount BA. They may be 0BA if they're 6mm ish

measure the diameter (OD) and then the threads per inch, that will allow you to look it up on the google thing,... otherwise the easiest way is to get some known threads and lay them side by side until you get one that meshes exactly with what you have.

As Howard suggests measure the diameter of the threads and also the pitch then compare the measurements in a Zues chart (pitch gauges are pennies and will last a life time as will a Zues chart). HTH
